Somewhere in Eastern-Europe back in the 70’s, these were the actual album record covers of pop stars. I’m not sure how “good” that was for their album sales / charts.
Some of the guys back then had their own unique styles, one of them was over 60 years old with “I am on top of the world” attitude riding a satellite in space. “Milance” is a big Casanova , a lady killer with Prince wannabe look. Then we found out that George Michael stole the outlook image from the big star “Zlatko” ,“Bajo” with stylish suit, hair and old “Tozovac” riding a cannon in a very funny FAIL position. Now I am actually thinking that Bajo and Saveta, the lady from the first picture, were dating back in the days.
Bone Imre says
They certainly didn’t have Photoshop back then. 😀
Jake says
These are ugly people.
Marco says
The comment about these people being ugly.Shows how much our society rates people on how they look, rather than on their talents.
BW says
Oh, that’s right. I forgot that you have been brainwashed by the media to believe that you have to look HAWT to sing well.
Jackson says
you are just assuming these people are talented… I would wager you’ve never listened to them lol
Samuel says
You do realize that all these come from *one* country and that Eastern Europe is hugely diverse, without even accounting for the Russians … I’m Romanian and my dad had a large collection of vinyl records (foreign and indigenous) and some covers did look pretty ridiculous (e.g.: this German Bee Gees wannabes pop into my head :-), but none were this crazy. I bet that if I dig a little I’ll find plenty of similar covers from the U.S.
Colin says
You guessed right. there are a bazillion websites about “worst album covers ever” and most are from the US. Bad 70s album covers affected every region of the world, even the greatest countries like the USA and Russia.
Colin says
The comment about these people being ugly.Shows how much our society rates people on how they look, rather than on their talents.
OH yeah, that’s right, being a good singer makes you infinitely attractive.
Marko says
“The comment about these people being ugly.Shows how much our society rates people on how they look, rather than on their talents.”
i would change “talents” for “hability to make glorious album covers”. BTW, i LOVE the comunists covers. And i mean LOVE.
Marten says
It’s just that styles, taste, and fashion change over time. Plenty ’70s album covers look ridiculous no matter where they are from. So do the clothes, films, and interior design. No harm in laughing at the past, we will be the joke in 30 years.
Willow says
In Soviet Russia, photo shops you.
Alex says
This former Yugoslavian “performers” were never considered as pop stars… It is more like low quality country music stars that performed in front of illiterate and totally drunk audience!!! And yea, Tozovac rules, hic !!!!
David says
Boy I sure am sick of all this anti-U.S. sentiment on sites like these. So sorry for where I was born and what I am a part of.
On that note, I have never eaten a TV dinner and don’t currently own a TV “set” (even though no one has called it that since 1960)
I have had a passport since I was eight years old and have traveled to 6 continents where I have made dozens of very interesting friends.
What have you done?
Nate says
These US guys think they know all 😀
but when you ask them something on their streets it comes up they are very stupid.
europeans are the best!
greetings from france.
Rihan says
Sad sad sad people base talent on looks. world YOU fail
Saveta says
If there is something I like more than a good album, it’s hairy legs to share it with.
Oh Saveta.
Brad says
Talent is based on looks. For instance, Britney Spears can’t sing a good note to save her life and she makes million upon millions. Then look at Susan Boyle, she lost due to being ugly, I think, and now she’s gonna have to be happy being a viral wannabe and making 10 pounds an hour at her local hamburger joint but oh she can sing good!
Truste says
FYI
This is not eastern Europe, this is from Yugoslavia, which is located in south-central Europe. Central or south, but not east ok. Also Yugoslavia was never party of the Eastern-block.
Jack says
Why are there flames?!
Bla says
OMG, this is so sad.
Mous says
Is that last one Edward James Olmos?
magicoddeffect says
I thought the Milance Show guy was Jamie Farr. Oh dear…
Piper says
I think #4 is a Steve Perry rare solo project album
Piper says
#1 looks like a fat Paul McCartney
Anna says
Why do you all argue about asthetic and musical talents when these pictures are clearly HILARIOUS?
Danica says
Um lighten up people… there is no denying that these covers are hilarious no matter where they come from, could you just imagine if someone did a shoot without shaving these days?
Babe says
The first picture lady has a lot of hair on her legs.
Diss says
When I stumbled on this site I almost gave it a thumbs down until I saw the comments…
Tom says
That’s Europe for you, I’ll take America any day
Brion says
Bajo = a young Roger Ebert
Jaque says
That’s Europe for you???
Have u actually ever been to Europe??
Melih Bayram Dede says
Yes. the album cover was such a time. future generations will laugh in our period, our album cover.
MDS says
Folks are saying that the album covers are unflattering, poorly designed and comically antiquated. they aren’t saying these folks cant sing. But if Luciano Pavarotti did an album cover where he wore lederhosen and posed on the hood of a car, he would come in for some chuckles at his expense no matter how he sounded. grow a sense of humor and quit trying to make folks feel bad for finding bad taste funny. As John waters pointed out, “Humor IS bad taste.”
Europe says
Apparently pearson that is before me is very bright in it’s nature. these singers were singing in yugoslavia, but they all are from serbia, and yugoslavia doesn’t exist any more.
a saw a billion sites about fail covers in america and they were even more funny but I can understand that it was a different time and like now every fool has an idea about world fame.
yugoslavia is not eastern europe
ok just to make this clear
firs of all it is sad that people from US think that Europe is a country [and no paris isn’t the capital], and in my school i learned the federal structure of USA, and funcions of senat, parlament, president…
also fact that something is older than 100years doesn’t make it a landmark… My hose is 200years old, my surname is 600 years old-and you are sofisticatd one?
Europe has 350 places protected by UNESCO, USA 20. Isn’t that sad…
Yes, by charts our standars may be lower, but i go toa coffie out 3 times a day, go out to the life every night since I was 16 get trashed 2 times a week and by that I can drink a bottle of gin in one evening…
I’ll take europe any time 🙂
Magnus says
Haha, this is quality.
Mia says
lol who cares they are hilarous
Michelle says
why in the world…?
Sanya says
I do not see the point in playing the “my homeland is better than your homeland” game. It’s one thing to have pride, but quite another to be hateful towards others.
Let’s all just work on being a little less ignorant and a lot more respectful.
Oh, and let’s all appreciate the tackiness of bad album covers- no matter the nation of origin, no matter the caliber of the talent, no matter the era. It’s funny.
Limbojoop says
They just should not make it possible to comment on these pictures it always comes down to people with not to much self esteem trying to insult others.Just have a laugh at the pictures, thats what they are put online for!!
Susan says
Can’t wait to see how Susan Boyle’s first album cover will look. Initially made fun of, then glamorized, then institutionalized, now made fun of again. Poor gal.
Jeffery Silent says
I would buy the first album, just for the picture on the cover.
Rex says
It’s necessarily that everyone is being ethnocentric, it’s simply that across cultural borders, what is considered beautiful (and even talented) changes greatly.
How do you know some of these covers weren’t created for humor?
It’s very naive of you to place the last one, at least, as a fail. It is definitely intentional.
RussiaTakeYou says
Good God, those legs are a patriotic tribute to stalins mustache, beautiful
Roby says
Haha well all of these “they’re ugly” comments are being made under the current perception of beauty that modern media has created
Anny says
Susan Boyle got as far as she did BECAUSE she is extremely ugly. the same goes for Paul Potts who won the original series of Britain’s got talent. talented but not outstandingly talented. if you are a mediocre singer then physical ugliness is your only hope of mainstream success. not a glowing review of our attitudes to fame but that’s how it is
Nenad says
All we are saying…
is give peace a chance
“That’s Europe for you, I’ll take America any day”
that’s not cutting it. especially if you’re just assuming that’s what europe is like based on these (hilarious) album covers. europe is amazing, maybe you should go sometime and be less ignorant about the beauty of it all.
BRT says
No US singer ever stole an “Image” form these Serbian inbreeds… You guys are just way into your culture. I LOVE MODERN MEDIA BECAUSE IT MADE IT COOL FOR WOMEN TO SHAVE THEIR LEGS
Brug says
It’s not eastern europe… only Yugoslavia (now Croatia, Serbis, Montenegro…etc.).
ArgNot says
Would you all just shut up and enjoy the pictures! Who cares where it’s from or why these people are ugly or even if they are talented. This is hilarious. I don’t care what country it’s from, album covers from the 60’s – 80’s are ridiculous.
MadForRed says
Wow….so much debate over album covers…The 2nd album states that it’s a parody right on the cover…as for the rest, yes, bad taste, hillarious but it’s a fact that well educated, sober people, rarely if ever , listened to any of that music…and while it’s funny and sad at the same time..i still think it’s better than some of the modern stuff…skulls, guns, injuries…really they dont make great album covers..ut they sell!
