“Family Guy” fans are sure to be flocking to movie theatres all over the country this weekend thanks to the release of “Ted,” the directorial debut of Seth MacFarlane, the show’s creator and primary voice actor. To celebrate its release, ThisBlogRules is taking a look back at the greatest cutaway gags from “Family Guy”’s illustrious 13-year history, and there’s certainly no shortage of clips to pick from: each 22-minute episode contains on average seven or eight cutaway gags, the vast majority of which have absolutely nothing to do with any given episode’s plot.

Euro 2012: Lego Recreations of the Tournament’s Greatest Moments

Have you been watching the 2012 European Championships? Yeah, me neither. But hey, this might pique your interest: a teenage football fan from Scotland has celebrated the (apparently very exciting) sports event by recreating some of the most memorable moments from past tournaments – in Lego! 18-year-old Graham Love spent four weeks painstakingly manipulating pint-sized plastic figures to make the stop-motion video, which he uploaded onto YouTube and which has went down a storm.

If you’re a footy fan, you may recognise some of the famous scenes receiving the Lego treatment in Love’s video: Cristiano Ronaldo weeping at Portugal’s Euro 2004 loss, for example, as well as David Trezeguet winning the tournament for France in 2000. He also leaves a question mark open for England’s performance this year. Well, we shall see (I’m sure I’ll read about it somewhere). 20 of the Internet’s Finest Movie/TV Supercuts

A frequent visitor to the jam-packed corridors of YouTube is an ongoing trend that some people refer to as a “pop culture megamix” and what other, more sensible individuals call a “supercut.” “What is a supercut?” I hear you curiously questioning. Well, a supercut is usually defined as a video montage that exists to highlight and bring attention to an overused plot device or line of dialogue that has at some point or another plagued either television or cinema screens, or sometimes both. The montage typically acts as an overblown compilation of examples of a certain hackneyed movie/TV cliche being used by lazy screenwriters, with mini clips pasted together with monotonous/hilarious repetition. A supercut can also be person-specific (focusing on one actor or filmmaker’s quirks and tropes) or centred on a single TV show or movie.

The trend’s origins can be traced all the way back to 2006, after which it went viral, with hundreds of very imaginative and highly entertaining supercut videos uploaded to YouTube ever since. Below are twenty of the finest, assembled in no particular order. [Read more…]

Meet Sidesplitting YouTube Comedy Troupe Zeke Mahogany

Zeke Mahogany combines simple but thorough concepts with stunning visual effects to create hysterical comedy routines. The troupe has developed a wide palette of ideas, from socially satirical sketches to laughs for laughter’s sake. With videos playing on ESPN, Huffington Post, Gawker TV, Failblog and more, I expect big things from the comedy machine that is Zeke Mahogany.
