The blockbuster of 2016 is getting into shape! DC Comics’ Suicide Squad promises to be the super-villain movie of next year, with a cast made in bad-ass Heaven and a story line that will make both aficionados and newbies thrilled.
Based as a comic series, Suicide Squad was created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru and first appeared in the 25th issue of Brave and the Bold, in 1959. It tells the story of a team of imprisoned super-villains who carry out high-risk missions for the U.S. Government in exchange for shortened sentences. They call it the Suicide Squad because sometimes the villains never return from their missions. This thug life plot is commanded by Amanda Waller, ruler over the prison at Belle Reve.
Now, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros.’ are making the magic come to life in a most promising “Suicide Squad” movie, announced to hit cinemas across the world as late as 2016. Directed by David Ayer, the film has so far Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis, amongst others, and is rumored to cast other major figures. Ayer also starred tomboy supermodel Cara Delevingne in the role of the Enchantress.
- Jared Leto will star in it, but his locks won’t
Leto cut his Jesus ombre super long locks especially for the role of The Joker and chances are, it’s gonna compensate through his wit and irony. The actor is taking his part very seriously and actually told press he is confident The Joker In ‘Suicide Squad’ will be “the best one yet”.
- There will be true blood
True blood fans will be happy to hear Joe Manganiello might be switching werewolf suits to resurrect as Deathstroke in Suicide Squad. As this may still be a spoiler, we’re all eyes and years to find out more news. As Deathstroke is the most villain of all villains, we’re guessing Ayer’s choice in this character pretty much explains his orientation towards Manganiello, who is all about the physique to pull off the role and also has a history of impersonating heroes and superheroes, in Sabotage (2014) and Spider-Man.
- Men in Black are coming back
Will Smith also has a record of going for the villain or against the villain roles. He’ll play Deadshot, from Batman, and this part may successfully strike us as much as Men in Black did back in the day.
- Cara Delevingne will make a sexy cameo (or more)
The Enchantress is a misguided character fighting Supergirl, who prevents her gaining omnipotent magical power and cancelling all other superpowers on Earth, twice. Sultry Cara Delevingne was assigned her own villainous part in the squad and we’re anxious to see her super devious kick (more than we’ve seen her in Fashion Week).
- Ryan Gosling may emerge (spoiler alert)
Rumor has it, the Hollywood sweet bad boy with a sensuous voice and a rock’n’rolla kick may take part in the Squad too. Flirting with main names in the industry right now, Ayer’s choice in Gosling may be confirmed and we’d be delighted to lose our souls to his Dead Man’s Bones melody and rhythm.
- The story will prevail its characters
Let’s make it clear. People will die in this movie, villains sometimes get caught and good may conquer over the bad, like in classics. However, even if Suicide Squad may come across as a Final Destination meets Night of the living dead, the biggest reason we think it will be an echoing hit is that it has enormous potential to influence many new DCMU productions that will follow its premiere.
