List of Netflix Original Series That are Planned for 2015

April 10, 2015 By Fred Mitchell Leave a Comment

House of Cards’ Season 3 isn’t the only Netflix Original Series to be released this year.

Netflix is on a roll, and we couldn’t be more happy with their streaming service –  for only $8.99 a month I can binge watch House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Bloodline and countless other TV series and awesome movies.

Here’s what to expect from Netflix this year:

2015 Netflix Show

  • DareDevil

DareDevil is actually premièring tonight so don’t miss it. Netflix and Marvel struck a deal, and with this new partnership they will be bringing us five new shows based on the expanded Marvel Universe. The first one to see the light of day is DareDevil, and it’s going to maintain the same origin story – as a boy, Matt Murdock – DareDevil – was in an unfortunate and terrible accident that blinded him. The event also gave him super powers. Matt, who is portrayed by Charlie Cox, fights injustice as a lawyer by day, and by night he takes criminals to Pummelling Street.

2015 Netflix Show

  • AKA Jessica Jones

We don’t have a release date for this show yet, but what we do know is that it’s going to be based on the expanded Marvel Universe. It will star Krysten Ritter, and the story will revolve around how a woman gives up crime-fighting as a superhero to become a private investigator – Super Detective Woman.

2015 Netflix SHow

  • Luke Cage

The third Netflix-Marvel child show will focus on Luke Cage, who in the comics is Jones’ husband. It’s rumoured to be released after the first season of Jessica Jones ends. Mike Colte will play Luke Cage, and the co-executive producer in charge of Almost Human, Naren Shankar will be the series’ showrunner.

Almost Human isn’t the only show that Naren has worked on. His other projects include: Farscape, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Night Visions, The Outer Limits, The Chronicle, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, seaQuest 2032, Grimm and Star Trek: Voyager.

That’s one hell of a resume.

Netflix 2015 Show

  • Chef’s Table

For all of you gourmands out there Chef’s Table is going to be available on the 26th of April, and this six-part documentary will focus on famous chefs from around the world. Ben Shewry, Magnus Nilsson and Dan Barber will make your taste buds jump in excitement.

Netflix 2015 Show

  • Grace and Frankie

Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin will star in Netflix’s Grace and Frankie. A story about two rivals that bond over the fact that their husbands have fallen in love with each other.  The show premiers on the 8th of May.

Netflix 2015 Show

  • Sense8

From Matrix creators Andy and Lana Wachowski, and Babylon 5’s J. Michael Straczynski, Sense8 is a new science fiction drama series about eight strangers all over the world who inexplicably become mentally linked to each other. Each episode will focus on one character and their story. There isn’t a main theme, but we were hinted that we will see the show focuse on sexuality, gender, persecution, bigotry, fear and identity crisis. It will be available on Netflix starting June the 5th.

I’m really excited about this new project by the Wachowski brothers, even though their last movie – Jupiter Ascending – was incredibly weak, I still have faith in them. More so when I found out that Cloud Atlas co-director Wachowski is on board.

Season 3

  • Orange is the New Black

Season 3 will hit this summer – on June the 12th to be more exact. Last season was the best so far, and for the past year I’ve been craving for more Piper Chapman, Sam Healy, Galina Red Reznikov, Taystee Jefferson and Poussey Washington. And I promise this time I won’t watch it in 2 days and then complain to my room mate Mark how empty life feels.

Pablo Escobar

  • Narcos

Does Pedro Pascal ring any bells to you? Well, how about Oberyn Martell? Yes, exactly him. The Game of Thrones actor that uhm met The Mountain, has his very own show. The story will focus on the life of Pablo Escobar and his cartel. An official date hasn’t been announced yet.

2015 Netflix Show

  • Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

The first time that I read the shows name I instantly thought that Netflix was going into porn, but oh how horribly wrong I was. Starring Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pine, Jon Hamm, Kristin Wiig, Jason Schwartzman and Jon Hamm the show is a must-see. Only 8 episodes have been announced, but you know that Netflix is going to release them all in one day – one day to binge watch them all that is. Take a day off on the July the 17th.

2015 Netflix Show

  • Dinotrux

The show will be based on Chris Gall’s children books – dinosaur stories combined with construction vehicles. Yes, it’s a kids show, an animation actually, made by Dreamworks Animation. It will be available sometimes this Summer.

Season 3

  • Hemlock Grove

This will be the final season of Hemlock Grove. After 3 season filled with creepy supernatural events, it’s time for the characters to bury their hatchets and move on – probably in each other’s skulls. It will appear this year – no official date has been announced.

Season 4

  • Longmire

The canned TV show Longmire will make its 4th season available on Netflix. With 10 new episodes, the show has the hard task of convincing everyone into wanting another season. Although it’s rumoured to appear this year, there are huge changes that it’s going to be pushed to 2016.

Co-Creator of F is for Family

  • F is for Family

Comedian Bill Burr and The Simpsons’ writer and producer Michael Price will be in charge of this little gem that almost escaped my eyes. It’s going to be an animated sitcom series that will début sometime this year.

Netflix French drama

  • Marseille

Set in France, shot in France – everything is France with this show. It’s a French drama – go figure – that will be available in late 2015.
